The True Story Of White Coffee Every Malaysian Should Know
每個馬來西亞人都應該知道白咖啡的真實故事
White coffee is not just a Malaysian drink, it is a part of our history.
Hainanese immigrants who were unaccustomed to bitter western style coffee modified it to suit the palate of the Chinese population.
White coffee was developed by Hainanese who migrated to Malaysia when many sailed to the shores of Nanyang during the late Qing dynasty. Drinking bitter and acidic western coffee reluctantly was a way of socialising and doing business with westerners, but they were unaccustomed to drinking western style coffee.
白咖啡不僅僅是一種馬來西亞的飲料,而是它歷史的一部分。當時海南移民(華人)因為不習慣西式咖啡苦澀的口感,所以改良開發適應華人口味的白咖啡.
白咖啡是清末期間遷徙到馬來西亞南洋海岸的海南居民所開發。與西方人交際和做生意的一種方式是喝苦澀帶酸的西式咖啡,但他們並不習慣喝西式咖啡。
As such, these distinguished Hainanese of yore demonstrated their culinary expertise by modifying the taste of western coffee, gradually adapting it to that which best suited the palate of the Chinese population. They adopted unique roasting, brewing and stirring techniques based on the traditions of the first generation. They also blended different coffee beans, thus creating the unique Old Town aroma.
因此,這些往昔傑出的海南人善展現他們的烹飪專長,對西式咖啡進行改良,逐漸將其調製成最適合華人口味的咖啡‧他們依據第一代先民的傳統採用獨特的烘培、釀造和攪拌工藝。 他們還混合了不同種類的咖啡豆,從而創造出獨特的老城區濃郁香氣。
The ingredients of OldTown white coffee consist of a wonderful mixture of specially roasted Arabica, Robusta and Liberica coffee beans and prepared using our traditional recipe that has been passed down through the generations, every drop of OLDTOWN white coffee is as authentic as ever.
The moniker 'white coffee', despite the coffee being a caramel brown colour, is given by the Chinese migrants who were working in the local tin mines. The beverage is considered a must-try.
白咖啡組成成本是採用我們世代傳承的傳統食譜,依Arabica,Robusta和Liberica咖啡豆的完美比例混調製而成,每一滴OLDTOWN白咖啡都和以往一樣正宗。當地錫礦工作的中國移民暱稱此為「白咖啡。」儘管咖啡是焦糖棕色‧此飲料被視為去馬來西亞不可不嘗的。
